H-E-B Fourth of July Celebration

The Band of Heathens – Tastes of Summer Concert

Splash and Dash 5K

Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival

San Antonio’s signature nighttime arts festival (tentative date). Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio 10K

(New for 2025) A standalone 10K race through downtown San Antonio, filling the gap before the new marathon. Runners enjoy on-course live music as with the former Rock ’n’ Roll series (registration fee required).

Barbacoa & Big Red Festival

A beloved San Antonio foodie festival celebrating the classic barbacoa and Big Red combo. Typically held in October (2025 date and venue TBA). Wurstfest (New Braunfels)

Zoo Lights at San Antonio Zoo

Winterfest at The Rock at La Cantera

NEW! A large-scale holiday festival at The Rock. Ford Holiday River Parade

The day after Thanksgiving, kick off the holidays with a spectacular night parade of illuminated floats down the San Antonio Riverwalk. This year’s theme brings music and lights to the river. (Tickets required for dedicated seating along the River Walk; free viewing is very limited) therockatlacantera.com. The parade begins at 7 PM and includes a festive tree-lighting ceremony.

Yanaguana Indian Arts Market

Annual Native American arts and culture market at Briscoe Western Art Museum (Thanksgiving weekend). Shop hand-crafted jewelry, pottery, and artwork from Indigenous artists, plus enjoy powwow drum performances and dances (free admission).

San Antonio Marathon (“Every Step Tells a Story”)

New marathon event! The inaugural San Antonio Marathon (replacing the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon) starts downtown on Sunday morning, Dec 7 sanantoniosports.org. The 26.2-mile race features “themed miles” with entertainment along the course sanantoniosports.org. Runners must register and pay entry fees; spectators can watch and cheer for free along the route.

Celebrate San Antonio – New Year’s Eve

The city’s official NYE celebration at Hemisfair and La Villita. A free, family-friendly street party with multiple stages of live music, local food trucks, and midnight fireworks over the Tower of the Americas. Draws thousands each year (no admission cost).

Holiday Season 2025 (all December)

Holiday Lights on the River Walk

The downtown River Walk is draped in twinkling lights nightly through New Year’s. Ford Fiesta de las Luminarias takes place on weekends (Dec 5–21): traditional candles line the river banks, and carolers in boats float by – a picturesque San Antonio tradition (free to stroll).
